Action for Happiness - Based on the latest research, Action for Happiness has identified the 10 Keys to Happier Living that consistently tend to make life happier and more fulfilling. For each of the ten there is information, questions, resources and suggested actions to help apply them in daily life.


Blurt It Out - Although we love our phones, many of us find them a source of stress. Scrolling through insta-perfect images can impact our self-esteem; constant notifications are overwhelming. However, our phones can also be super self-care tools. There are lots of apps out there designed to help us manage our mental health.


Childline - a free 24-hour counselling service for children and young people up to their 19th birthday in the UK provided by the NSPCC. Childline deals with any issue which causes distress or concern, common issues dealt with include child abuse, bullying, mental illness, parental separation or divorce, pregnancy and substance misuse. 


Counselling Directory was set up by a team who know how difficult it can be to find the support and information you need. Being a team who between us have experienced various mental health issues, we know how it feels to be overwhelmed, isolated and somewhat lost. 


Gloucestershire Self Harm Helpline - provides a safe, supportive, non-judgmental and informative space for people who self harm, their friends, families and carers. They also speak to professionals who may want to know more about self harm. The service is able to support anyone living within Gloucestershire, and you can contact the service by telephone, text or webchat during the opening hours, every day 5pm to 10pm.


Royal College of Psychiatrists - have specifically tailored information and leaflets for young people, parents, teachers and carers about mental health issues


Students Against Depression - offers information and resources validated by health professionals alongside tips and advice from students who have experienced it all themselves.

Young Minds - is the UK's leading charity committed to improving emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people and empowering their parents and carers. 


Youth Mental Health
An information hub offering young people advice and help on mental health problems including depression, anxiety and stress.


Rethink Mental Illness - there are over 100 factsheets on a variety of mental health conditions, from anxiety disorders to schizophrenia. Plus information on medication or welfare support, all written in simple language.

Rethink Schizophrenia is a refreshed version of Schizophrenia Awareness Week, which has run annually since 2013. When it comes to schizophrenia, understanding is nowhere near what it should be. This year they’re aiming to reach people with little or no knowledge of schizophrenia to raise more and better awareness.


Mind - has useful information on improving mental wellbeing in the workplace.

BlueIce is an evidenced-based app to help young people manage their emotions and reduce urges to self harm.

BlueIce is a prescribed app designed to be used alongside face to face care provided by mental health services. 

It includes a mood diary, a toolbox of evidence-based techniques to reduce distress and automatic routing to emergency numbers if urges to harm continue.(08/01/20)



The Dimensions Tool is a free online tool providing personalised information to support a person’s well-being and mental health. You can rate yourself or another person against a number of dimensions related to health and wellbeing. The tool creates a Dimensions report which provides information about self-care, local services and support.
