Headteacher's Welcome
I hope you enjoy exploring these pages and that they will give you a real sense of some of the fantastic learning opportunities we offer at Winchcombe Abbey C of E Primary School. We believe in putting the needs of the child at the heart of everything we do and are rightly proud of our children and all they achieve. In April 2014, we became part of the Diocese of Gloucester Academies Trust which gives us a family of schools with whom we enjoy a close working relationship based on shared values and mutual support.
At Winchcombe Abbey, we work on the basis that education is very much a partnership between home and school and as such, we want to work closely with you to ensure your child is happy in school and achieves his or her full potential. As well as pursuing academic excellence, we work hard to help all the children in our care grow and flourish as confident individuals with high personal aspirations and a lifelong love of learning.
Our school is founded on a strong Christian ethos of mutual respect, care and trust. Our eight Core Values of Compassion, Courage, Respect, Responsibility, Humility, Forgiveness, Truth and Fairness underpin all of our work and our beliefs.
Learning in our school is developed through a unique curriculum that is rich and vibrant, using first hand experiences where possible which help to put the children’s learning into context; artists, scientists, musicians, actors, clergy, charity representatives, as well as sportsmen and women are all regular visitors to the school to help support this philosophy.
Inevitably, a website can only give a snapshot of a school and we would encourage you to make an appointment to come and visit us so you can see our very special school in action. I would be delighted to show you around and provide you with a chance to meet our children, talk to the staff and view the environment in which we learn, work and play.
