The Friends of Winchcombe Abbey Primary School
Meetings are held regularly for parents and staff (sometimes at school, sometimes in the pub) to discuss fund-raising for the school and to organise social events.
In the past year, we have organised Christmas and Summer Fairs, a school disco, quiz night, bingo supper night, Lent Lunch and an Easter Egg Hunt.
The school benefits quite significantly from this financial support. In recent years, our targets have been to help with the cost of the playing field fence, the installation of projector and screen in the School Hall, Raspberry Pis to use in the classroom to develop computer programming skills and to update the school books. Last year, we purchased iPads for use by all classes in the school. This year we are looking to help purchase a Trim Trail for the children to use in PE classes and during break and lunchtimes. For the past few years, we have bought leaving gifts of dictionaries for Y6 children, subsidised visiting theatre groups and have made a donation to each class teacher to spend on their class as they feel is appropriate - often to help towards a specific trip or project for their year group (this year it will be £300 per class).
We need your help!
We hope you will think about getting involved. Many hands make light work and any help you can offer will make a difference.
Please contact Linda Barnes (Mum of Walter in Year 1 and Albert in Year 3) or Alison Moore (mum of Joe in Year 6 and Lilia in Year 4) or the School Office if you would like to find out more.
