Roald Dahl Week
The children and staff had a memorable week in early November celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Roald Dahl. They took part in all sorts of activities relating to the great author from writing, to reading with parents and grandparents, to art and cooking. The entries for the potato competition had to be seen to be believed as simple spuds were imaginatively and amusingly transformed into characters from the books. Well done to everyone who entered and especially the class winners. Two of our mums, Mrs Yeates and Mrs Parsloe turned some of the children’s art work into a magnificent enormous crocodile which, when mounted, will hopefully grace our entrance hall for years to come. The children thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle of seeing the staff dressed up as Roald Dahl characters on Friday. There were several very convincing Oompa Loompas! We are most grateful to Literacy Coordinator Miss J Jones for organising such a wonderful and varied week. Thanks to everyone who came along to the book fair too. The commission earned from sales enables us to purchase a substantial number of new books for the children.
